The Story:
South of Lake Texana on the Navidad River, the historic town of Red Bluff disappeared when Lolita was founded with the railroad in 1909. Less colorful than the novel that provoked local disapproval, Lolita was named for Lolita Reese. granddaughter of early settler and controversial San Jacinto hero C. K. Reese.
This hardy Black Spanish grape has its New World Texas roots deep in the history of colonists and pioneers who settled along the Rio Grande and the Gulf Coast's Lavaca River. Its seedling clone, Favorite, produces the blush of a younger sister.
