The Story:
Named for nearby Mustang Creek flowing into the Navidad River, Mustang Settlement was home to early Jackson County settlers. In the early 1880s, a railroad official on the new rail line saw large herds of cattle here and call the town Ganado, Spanish for Herd.
The hardy native mustang grapes growing wild in the region thrive at Lavaca Bluffs overlooking the Lavaca River south of old Texana and Ganado. This traditional Texas wine honors local history.
