The Story:
Before the Navidad flows into the Lavaca River south of old Texana, it winds through Jackson County wilderness near Morales. Named for the areas blacksmith, Morales provided a natural hideout for murderers and horse thieves in the 1800's. Near Texana it nourished prolific wild berries thought to have sustained the legendary Wild Man of the Navidad, an escaped slave, between his legendary raids on settlers baked goods.
Although Cabernet Sauvignon grapes can't survive here, this lightly oaked wine can stand alone or stand up to a Texas steak.
