The Story: 

The German settlers who founded the crossroads town of Germantown in the late 1800's renamed it Schroeder because of World War I anti-German sentiment.  While the community center they built may not be the oldest dance hall in Texas, Schroeder Hall represents the heritage of Texas culture and country music that began with these centers for socializing, dancing, and drinking beer.  Now known for a two-stepping evolving style of country music, the dance hall is legendary.
